About Us

Our First School begins from three years of age. It comprises of a Nursery, a Reception class and a Year One class. It is the initial stage of your child’s experience. At First School, all children’s unique skills and talents are recognised. The early years are used to encourage and foster each child’s love of learning, to develop emerging literacy and mathematical skills, and to create positive and long-lasting attitudes towards schooling.

As children progress through our Prep School (Years Two to Six), all abilities and strengths are recognised. Whether these be academic, musical, sporting, artistic, entrepreneurial or leadership talents, they can be promoted through classroom based learning and through the wider opportunities that our school can offer. We expect all of our pupils to aspire to reach exceptional standards in Mathematics and English and to develop the attitude, disposition and values that enable positive choices in the future.

Our motto is quite simple: ‘We Prepare for Life’. We believe that it is important to equip young people with a range of skills that will positively impact on their changing lives. We hold the fundamental skills of reading, writing and mathematics in high esteem and celebrate achievement in these areas. Through the use of a range of equipment, our pupils develop technological skills across the curriculum. We foster not only the development of conceptual understanding, but also a thirst for knowledge. Our school provides pupils with an environment of care and respect. Hard work, courtesy and kindness are expected of all.

Our school has a diverse community. It embraces and represents different cultures, religions and family backgrounds, within the context of the local community. We believe that this richness makes all families feel valued and all children included. All pupils at our school undertake studies in the widest possible curriculum, which includes specialist teaching in Art, Music, Science and Physical Education. Participation in the fullest range of extra curricular activities are not seen as optional, but as essential and enriching.

We welcome to our school all children who aspire to meet The Belvedere Preparatory School’s high standards, who wish to be an integral member of our school community and who have the capacity to learn and progress within our educational context.
