THE BELVEDERE PREPARATORY SCHOOL GUILD OF FRIENDS (GOF)
The Belvedere Preparatory School Guild of Friends (GOF) is an active group of parents who organise fundraising events. The funds from these events are used to enhance the learning experience of all our children, in all areas of school life.
All parents, families and staff at Belvedere Prep are members of the GOF. The level of commitment required varies enormously. We are always in need of enthusiastic helpers for all of our events. This can range from attending one meeting a year and contributing ideas, suggestions or expertise, to ticketing raffle prizes or baking cakes for a coffee morning. We encourage families to become involved in any way and at any level they feel they can fit into their busy lives.
The committee consists of the Chair (Mrs Jones), Secretary (Ms Wakhil) and Treasurer (Mrs Roberts). The committee organises meetings for members who are interested in providing support for events, such as the Spooky Disco, Summer Fayre, and Christmas Fayre. Members come forward with suggestions on how they are prepared to help, and we as an organisation find a place for all to contribute.
The Belvedere Preparatory School GOF has a number of roles, one of which is fund raising. The GOF have raised thousands of pounds with the help and support of our families, children and staff. A recent example of how some of this money has been spent is the Living Willow Tunnel. All children, from Nursery to Year 6, helped to plant, weave and shape this tunnel – it is now flourishing in our playground.
The other role of our GOF is to promote the relationship between home and school. We bring together children, parents, teachers and staff at many events, with one common goal in mind – to better our school. We have held various social events such as a Pantomime, the annual Spooky Disco and of course the Christmas and Summer fayres.
Not all of our events are run as fundraisers. We also use our funds to provide enjoyment for children and to thank our families for their support.
If you wish to be informed and kept up to date with what is happening, you do need to provide us with your email address.
There are lots of ways for you to help and support throughout the year. Helping in the run up to events is always welcome – be it for half an hour or manning a Summer fayre stall for an hour slot on the big day! We would be unable to do any of the things we do without the support of so many parents who give generously their time and effort. However, some parents may only manage one meeting throughout the whole year and others may only help out at one event. The value placed on parental support in whatever form it takes is incalculable.
